My family runs a construction and hardware trading supply business in Cagayan De Oro City. I just graduated with a degree in business management that time in La Salle that time at handa na akong umuwi sa Cagayan De Oro para tumulong sa aming negosyo. Typical chinese family since I’m the only son. I have a younger sister. Her name is Tanya and she’s a 3rd year high school student that time.
Handa na akong umuwi ng Cagayan de Oro until my Dad told me to delay it para may magbantay sa kapatid ko if ever she decided to pursue her studies here in Manila. Xavier University kasi ang napupusuan niya but I told her not to cllse any doors for opportunity.
I was too agressive that time hanggang sa naputukan ako ng cheke ng isang kliyente. More than 2 years na kaming magka transaction at maayos naman ang lahat but it was too late nung nalaman kong nalulon siya sa casino at marami na ding tinakbuhang supplier. Masyado kasi akong agressive.
I was a 24 year old dumbass and broke. I was such a disgrace to my father who was Armando Yao. The most prominent and respectable entreprenuer in Mindanao. Kahawig niya si Lito Legaspi, he stands around 5’8″ at may pagkafirm ang katawan. My mother is Melinda Gotuaco Yao who belongs to the shiooing magnate of Cebu. She was very sweet and lovely. Kahawig niya si Marilen Benipayo, she stands around 5’7″ with a perfect 36-26-36 figure, with a long shiny hair and she always wears a beautiful smile. My dad had an outburst on my failure and he revaled a dark secret.
Dad: LINTIK NA YAN! ANG HINA NAMAN NG PANG AMOY MO! KAMOTE KA NA NGA SA ESKWELA PATI BA NAMAN SA BUHAY KAMOTE KA PA RIN! PALIBHASA AMPON KA KASI! HINDI KITA TUNAY NA ANAK!
Mom: ARMANDO STOP IT!
Dad: WALA KANG SILBI! BOBO! TANGA!
Dad walked out and I shed into tears.
Me: Mommy totoo ba ang sinabi ni Dad? Mom tell me the truth please…..
Di daw sila magka anak that time ni Dad and out of desperation ay nagampon sila sa ampunan. Super conservative traditional chinese ang father ko while my mom was an energetic modern chinese. I was barely a month old that time at iniwan daw ako sa labas ng ampunan. Mom hugged me very right to give me comfort.
Mom: anak kahit na ampon ka I just want you to know na mahal na mahal pa rin kita. You are still my eldest son.
Me: Thanks Mom.
Lumabas na si Mommy sa penthouse condo unit namin to catch a flight going back to Cagayan de Oro. I was still sitting at the couch and crying until Tanya hugged me very tight. I was 8 years old that time at nafocus na siya ng todo kay Tanya.
She would give all the best for Tanya like the newest and latest iphone with the highest memory storage, the best laptop samantalang mga pinaglumaan niya ang mga papupunta sa akin. He would let me figure out my problem on my own without any assistance. My mom saw this at siya ang pumuno sa pagkukulang ni Dad. She would buy me new things hindi nga lang top of the line pero it serves the purpose. Sometimes Tanya would refuse Dad’s gift and insists to give it to me. Super swerte ko din sa kapatid ko that she loved me for everything.
Me: Thank you Tanya.
Tanya is such a sweet girl. She was a freshmen in college taking up Management Engineering. Beauty and Brains ang kapatid kong ai Tanya at kahawig niya si Francine Diaz.
